All Laptop manufacturers install their own driver for what functions they require. The driver will be on the ASUS website. Seems to be listed as "ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities".
The problem is not specific to a program and persists anywhere that allows me to type. Since the keyboard is attached to the laptop, I'm not sure what type of keyboard it is. The device manager has two things under keyboard, "HID Keyboard Device" and "Standard PS/2 Keyboard". Both are up to date. The hardware and devices repair also did not work.
If there's an Fn key on the keyboard, press that and any one key from F1 to F12 and see if it works. It's easy to ride down a hill while it's hard to climb the hill back up. Like that, it's easy to malfunction a computer while it's hard to fix it.
